Have you ever wished you were “The Boss” for your job? The one who decides who gets a raise, a bonus, or maybe wished you had control over keeping the money for yourself?
Most “bosses” will be the first to tell you it’s not as fun as you think it would be. But for a lot of people who have never been the boss, that all seems like they are just saying that to appease you and justify why they get more money than you.
As tax-payers of Great Falls, you ARE the boss for a change.
You are actually in control of whether or not teachers get a raise, or money gets spent to improve education. Sure, it seems annoying that you have to take money out of your own pocket, but as the boss, it’s on you to keep the company humming along.
If you can’t keep your employees happy, how will you keep the doors open? If you don’t pay to upgrade your computers, how can you keep up when new software comes out, and generally run your business? Sure, it would be way nicer to just take that extra money and take a nice vacation.
But if you don’t keep re-investing in your business, taking care of your employees, another company will snag your good employees right out from under you, and eventually, you will go under.
Lots of people complain about how much our city’s public school administration gets paid. Let’s think about this. A good boss knows you can’t do it all yourself. A smart boss knows you need a good team that knows more than you. You hire good people to keep your business running FOR YOU. And that doesn’t come cheap.
If you are a smart boss, you know that you get what you pay for.
You hire the guy that is going to handle the day to day operations because they know how to do it and have the experience and education to do this job. You hire them because, you know that they will help keep the employees happy and in turn, the employees will produce a good quality product which you can market and reap the value of in the future.
That investment will come back over and over.
Better quality products result in buyers flocking to be a part of your business! Essentially, good schools result in people wanting to live here, which in turn brings more tax revenue to share the expense. More people equals more businesses wanting to do business here. New restaurants come to Great Falls, new stores, more tax base, everybody wins.
Don’t be the bad boss who thinks only of himself and keeps it all. Make that tiny investment and sit back to watch your company grow. In the long run, it will pay off.
Vote YES!! for the levy. Be the boss who can see the big picture. Invest in Great Falls’s future.
